Vaccine Adoption and Confidence in India
Vaccine Adoption and Confidence in India
GFI in 2023, launched the VCF-II (Vaccine Adoption and Confidence II) project to enhance routine childhood immunization through blending human-centric digital outreach on WhatsApp. Local influencers and frontline Workers reinforced digital messages over WhatsApp. The project utilized quasi experimental research having treatment arm that received the intervention and a comparison group which did not receive the intervention (IEC messages through WhatsApp about importance of vaccination, posters and street plays). Utilizing Difference-in-Differences (DID) analysis, the initiative achieved significant increases in trust in favor of vaccine advocates—8.3% for pharmacists, 8.0% for religious leaders, and 6.2% for elected representatives. Recognizing trusted sources of vaccine facts also improved by 5.5%, reflecting the integration of online engagement with health communication in local settings.
