As a Content Writer & Communication Specialist, you will be responsible for creating compelling and engaging content across various communication channels to effectively convey the organization’s messages and strengthen its brand presence. You will play a vital role in developing and implementing content strategies, producing high-quality written materials, and ensuring consistent and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. This position requires exceptional writing skills, creativity, and a keen understanding of effective communication practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Content Creation:
- Produce engaging and persuasive written content for various platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, newsletters, press releases, reports and other marketing materials.
- Research and gather information on relevant topics to develop well-informed, accurate, and compelling content.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand complex concepts and translate them into easily understandable language.
- Maintain consistency in tone of voice, style, and brand guidelines across all written materials.
- Content Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement content strategies aligned with organizational goals, target audience, and communication objectives.
- Conduct content audits and market research to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for new content initiatives.
- Plan and create an editorial calendar to ensure regular content creation and timely distribution.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging communication platforms, and best practices to enhance content effectiveness.
- Communication and Messaging:
- Craft clear, concise, and impactful messaging for internal and external communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop key messages and communication plans for specific programs, initiatives, campaigns, or events.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in messaging across various communication channels.
- Tailor content to suit different target audiences, maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Proofreading and Editing:
- Review and edit content to ensure clarity, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Conduct thorough proofreading to eliminate errors and improve the overall quality of written materials.
- Provide feedback and guidance to internal stakeholders to enhance their writing skills and maintain consistency in communication.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field. A relevant certification is a plus.
- 5 – 6 years of proven experience in social development sector as a content writer, copywriter, or communication specialist, with a portfolio of writing samples.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Creativity and the ability to think strategically to develop engaging and persuasive content.
- Knowledge of digital marketing, SEO principles, and best practices for content optimization.
- Excellent research skills to gather and synthesize information from diverse sources.
- Strong understanding of brand identity and the ability to maintain brand consistency in communication.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and their use in content promotion.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
