Lakshyavati – Empowering Girls Through Education

Grameen Foundation India (GFI) designed the Lakshyavati program to improve educational attainment and reduce school dropout rates amongst girls between Grades VII and XII. Girls belonging to low-income families suffer the risk of having their education de-prioritized when they reach middle school, often leading to early marriages for most of them. To address and arrest this reality, GFI along with its partner runs a scholarship program to provide a fixed monthly bursary, which is transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 65 girls across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. All the 65 girls have continued their education, and GFI hopes to see a reduction in dropouts during the third and final years of the program.
